Stressed about being stressed?

The middle of the semester is quickly approaching, and it seems like everything has hit you all at once. 4 midterms, 2 papers, and some rather time-consuming extracurricular activities are all demanding your attention, and you're so worried, that you don't even know where to begin. Well, perhaps you should begin with what you CAN do.

First, understand your deadlines and dates and order the work that way.

Second, come up with a game plan. Only have a week to write a paper and the weekend is your only free time? Although it's nice to reserve the weekend for outings and relaxation, sometimes you have to lock yourself in your room and power through the piles of research. For example, plan to write the outline on Friday. Then, write the first half (or more) of the paper on Saturday. Use Sunday to finish up and save plenty of time to do any homework for Monday. It sounds grueling and tiresome, but your future self will thank you.

Third, start planning your next assignment as soon as possible. It may require another weekend of work, but the more advanced you are, the more time you will have in the future to relax and take things slow. Just remember to always plan AROUND your extracurricular activities as well as food breaks. In terms of studying, DO NOT wait until the night before. If you plan to anyway, at least take a night or two before your intended cramming session and organize the material.

Although waiting until the last minute means more free time beforehand, if you run into problems that only the professor or a fellow student could solve for you, it's guaranteed he or she won't be awake at 2 in the morning to help. PLAN AHEAD.
