Meet The Team!

Established in 1974 and named for the Sucarnochee River that runs near the University of West Alabama, The Sucarnochee Review is published annually by the University's Department of English and History. We are student-led and student-edited and we believe strongly in the value of amplifying student voices. As a result, we proudly make space in each of our issues for new and upcoming undergraduate writers.

That being said, we are open to writers of all ages and at all stages in their career. We read poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, and we look forward to reading your work!

Dr. Eleanor Boudreau is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of West Alabama and the Faculty Advisor for the Sucarnochee Review. Her first book, Earnest, Earnest? (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2020), won the 2019 Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize. She earned her PhD from Florida State University, her MFA from the University of Houston, and she has holds a M.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia.

Mary Kendall Glass currently serves as one of the Sucarnochee Review’s Senior Editors. She is a senior English major at the University of West Alabama, where she also represents the college as a cheerleader, leads worship at UWA’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and enjoys participating in Greek life. She is from Linden, Alabama: a town that makes Livingston look like a great metropolis. However, she relishes her small-town life, knowing everyone she encounters at the local grocery store. In her free time, she watches the same three shows on Netflix again and again, sings to whoever will listen, reads works of literature, and plays with her two Australian Shepherds, Chief and Cherri.

Rachel Robinson is a junior English major at the University of West Alabama. Her fascination with reading and writing is what fueled her decision to be an English major. She could get carried away reading an exhilarating plot line, and she knew that one day she would love to create her own that others would read. Her dream is to become a young adult fiction author and editor. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta and Phi Eta Sigma. She enjoys reading Stephanie Perkins, John Green, and Lauren Myracle. As a Writing Center tutor at UWA, she gets to the root of the issues and works on how to minimize mistakes that have an impact on papers as a whole. She loves nothing more than to assist students who have trouble placing their thoughts onto paper.

Trinity Crenshaw is a senior at the University of Alabama, and native to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Her major is History Education and is a Trio SSS Scholar. Trinity enjoys reading novels by Jason Reynold sand Colleen Hover, while she also loves to write stories herself. Her favorite past time is listening to music from artists such as J.Cole, Jhene Aiko, Sabrina Claudio, and pretty much anyone else. As an SSS Scholar, Trinity is also a tutor/mentor and she enjoys being able to help her peers and even gain knowledge from them while doing so.
