To Whom It May Concern

My name is Shelby Parrish and I'm 20 years old. I'm from a very small town called Carbon Hill, AL. I am a middle child with an older sister (by two years) and younger sister (by one year). Not to mention my three loving parents (my dad, mom, and stepdad), as well as my beautiful niece who is 3 years old. (Everyone says she looks like me!) I enjoy reading scary or adventurous novels, watching scary or action-packed movies, and playing almost any type of video game. I also enjoy writing novellas in hopes that one day I'll be published.

I went to Carbon Hill High School where I participated in such extra-curricular activities as Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Torch Invitational (I attended for the grammar portion), and the school newspaper as a reporter. I was also a "band aid" for my senior year where I traveled with the band to football games and competitions and assisted them (mainly the color guard) with whatever they needed.

I attended a community college after high school with an academic scholarship to accompany me. I majored in English (not Education, therefore labeled as a researcher) and was able to take every literature class the college offered. At the end of my time there, I received the academic award for English for achieving full marks in all of the classes. I graduated last May with honors with an Associates of the Arts.

Here at the University of West Alabama, I aim to get my Bachelors as an English major and go into some sort of media outlet (albeit a magazine, newspaper, publishing, or even digital). Although, I do admit to dreaming of being a famous author one day.

To conclude, I would like to mention something a bit unusual but officially typical of me. I love Kpop. I used to listen to Rock and Metal music, but for the past two years I have been addicted to Korean pop music. It may sound strange, but I get to experience a different culture, namely Korean, through this music genre and their fandoms. I've learned new words, new mannerisms, and even fashion tips. I would love to become fluent in Korean and travel to South Korea one day.
